APCA has published its first Tri-Annual Review, 2004-07, launched at its recent successful Palliative Care in Africa – Making it Real conference held in Nairobi, Kenya.
During the last three years, APCA has grown significantly in size, stature and credibility. The increase in work programmes and project activities has resulted in an increase in staff numbers, from six in 2006 to 30 in 2007. It has also increased its direct country technical assistance agenda, from four countries in 2005, to 12 in 2006, and 20 in 2007.
This review captures that growth, outlining APCA’s achievements across its primary work programmes, growth that is anticipated to continue, with challenging work programmes outlined in our recently developed APCA Strategic Plan, 2007-10.
In a foreword co-authored with APCA’s Executive Director, Dr Faith Mwangi-Powell, APCA’s former Chair, Kath Defilippi, stated: ‘Inevitably, this growth, and the achievements contained in this Tri-Annual Report, would not have been possible were it not for the increased donor support APCA has received over the last few years. As such, we wish to express our appreciation of all our donors – local, national, regional and international… In the years ahead, and as we take forward APCA’s strategic plan, we hope that we will continue to enjoy your support.’
