Suave Gombwa
Palliative Care Advocacy Officer (SARO)
Suave Gombwa is APCA’s Advocacy Officer for the Southern Africa Region, based in Blantyre, Malawi. He is an experienced provider of technical support in palliative care, specialising in advocacy at national and institutional levels, and in education and training. Suave has a Higher Education Diploma in Palliative Care with Oxford Brookes University in the UK, in collaboration with Kenya’s Nairobi Hospice. His experience includes repositioning palliative care at a national level, influencing decision-makers, developing palliative care advocacy materials and messages, and advocating for drug availability. In Malawi, he has taught an introductory course to palliative care nationwide, mentored palliative care institutions and provided hands-on palliative care to patients.
