Dr Anne Merriman
Vice Chair of the APCA Board
Dr Merriman is Founder and Director of Policy and International Programmes at Hospice Africa Uganda, based in Kampala. She earned her medical degree at the University College in Dublin, the Republic of Ireland. Dr Merriman has lived in India, Singapore, Kenya and Uganda working in geriatrics and palliative care. Through her efforts, she has been able to influence and promote the development of palliative care in several countries in Africa, including Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sierra Leone and Zambia. She has edited several publications, published extensively, and has received numerous international awards in recognition of her hard work and success in improving the care of patients in Africa and Asia.
